🇻🇳 Vietnam Ep. 01 – From Flight Window to Saigon Streets
Welcome to the very first episode of OPTVLOGS – your gateway to real solo overland travel across Asia! This journey begins in none other than the vibrant, chaotic, and colorful city of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
From the moment I boarded my VietJet flight, I knew this journey would be unforgettable. After landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, I stepped into the rhythm of Saigon — a city that never sleeps. This episode captures the raw first impressions, street life, and energy of one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic cities.
From flight arrival and airport exit to street food, temples, post offices, parks, and the nightlife of Bui Vien Street.
✈️ The Arrival – Touchdown at Tan Son Nhat
The adventure kicks off with aerial views from my window seat aboard a VietJet flight. As we descended into Saigon, I couldn’t help but feel the buzz of anticipation. Upon landing, I navigated through the airport and exited into a city teeming with motion — bikes, taxis, and lights.
🍜 Bui Vien Street – Saigon After Dark
One of the most alive areas of the city, Bui Vien Street is known for its backpacker culture, street food, live music, and non-stop nightlife. I walked through it with my camera capturing the food stalls, neon signs, and locals mingling with travelers from around the world. Whether you’re here for pho, banh mi, or people-watching, this street doesn’t disappoint.
🏛️ Saigon’s Colonial Landmarks
In daylight, Saigon’s French colonial charm stands out. I visited:
- 🟠 Saigon Central Post Office – with its arched ceilings and historic vibe
- 🟠 Ben Thanh Market – a bustling maze of vendors and aromas
- 🟠 Museum of Fine Arts – showcasing local artistry and culture
- 🟠 Buddhist & Hindu Temples – peaceful moments inside sacred spaces
🏀 City Life Under Big Trees
In a small park nearby, I captured scenes of local life — especially young kids and teens playing basketball under giant trees. It’s a simple, joyful window into everyday Vietnam beyond the tourist routes.
