📜 Birth of Avadi Kari Choru
During the 1950s, Avadi’s military mess kitchens became famous for a hearty rice meal cooked with mutton, local masalas, and a touch of coconut milk. Soldiers called it “Kari Choru” — a quick yet satisfying one-pot meal. Today, OPTVLOGS revives this legacy through storytelling and food heritage exploration.
🥘 Ingredients
- 500g mutton or beef, cleaned and cut
- 2 cups of short-grain rice
- 1 large onion, 2 tomatoes, ginger, garlic, curry leaves
- Homemade masala powder (turmeric, chili, coriander, pepper)
- 1 cup coconut milk, 2 tbsp oil or ghee

- Marinate the meat with all dry spices and salt; rest for 30 minutes.
