Mutton Stew Recipe Kerala Style | Easy Coconut Stew
A rich, creamy Kerala-style mutton stew made with coconut milk and traditional spices. Perfect comfort food.
Ingredients
- Mutton – 500 g
- Potato – 2 (medium)
- Green chilli – 3
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Onion – 2 (sliced)
- Coconut milk – 1 cup
- Pepper powder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves – as needed
- Cardamom, cloves, cinnamon – few
- Salt – to taste
- Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
Preparation Method
- Heat coconut oil in a pressure cooker. Add cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom.
- Add sliced onion, ginger-garlic paste, and green chilli. Sauté well.
- Add mutton and cook for 5 minutes. Add salt.
- Add potatoes and a little water. Pressure cook for 4–5 whistles.
- Add coconut milk, pepper powder, and garam masala.
- Simmer on low flame for 5 minutes.
- Finally, add curry leaves and switch off.
